T.H.E.Seniors (Touch the Hearts of Elderly) is one of the Regular Volunteering Programmes (RVPs) under NUS Students' Community Service Club (NUS CSC). It is a joint project between NUS CSC and TOUCH Community Services (TCS). We have regular fortnightly visits that provide opportunities for volunteers to interact regularly with the 14 elderly beneficiaries living alone in one-room flats in Geylang Bahru. Our regular activities include helping out with household chores for the elderly who may have difficulties in completing them and also interacting with them. Our regular visits are fortnightly, between 10.30am to 1.30pm on alternate Saturdays.
Besides regular visits, we also have frequent celebrations organised during special occasions such as the Dumpling festivals, Valentines' Day, and National Day, where the elderly get to participate in interactive activities such as lantern making and cupid decorating with the volunteers. Twice a year, we have major outings where we bring elderly out of their apartments and neighbourhood to amazing places such as East Coast Park and Botanical Gardens to spend half a day engaging in wonderful games and activities.
